Our paving and resurfacing makes a difference!
Conventional Method

Infrared method

How we provide better patches
Pavement restoration, utilizing infrared, is achieved by heating approximately 6” beyond the permieter4 of the damaged area. Infrared heat, when used properly, can soften asphalt to a depth of 3” or more without burning the surface. That 6” perimeter is left untouched while the damaged area is re-raked. The existing asphalt is reused, adding additional asphalt as needed to bring the area up to grade. The restoration is finished by raking the surface level and then rolling if smooth. The heated perimeter area and the repaired area are rolled together creating one seamless surface. Because there is no seam—on cold joint—there is no entryway for water. It is water which eventually causes conventional repairs to fail. The repair is superior to any full depth patching. Since normally not more than 2-3 inches of the surface is disturbed, re-compacting the full depth of the pavement does not occur. This eliminates “birdbaths” which typically occur when traffic continues to compact the patch. Further, because the entire infrared Repair only takes 10 minutes the area is closed to traffic for a shorter period. The super infrared repair is permanent, economical, and much better looking than conventional repairs.
